Our only kiss...... amid cats and dogs

June 16, 2008 / by 24-7

I think it was after a football game but it’s hard to tell because you know how time and alcohol distorts. I had never been drunk, this I know. I was in a rocking chair in a girl’s room in Lawther Hall with a bunch of other kids and chasing beer with tequila. Or was it tequila chasing beer? Regardless, I remember seeing the room and a girl standing in front of me begin to spin and the next thing I'm in a bar with a couple of girls and a guy named Jim. The lights went out and Kari, the girl next to me ran her hand up my thigh just enough to well.... That was a first also for me. When the lights came back on I whispered in her ear “lets get out of here”.

She acted like she didn’t have a clue. I guess I was pissed or embarrassed because the next thing Jim and I were running like maniacs aross the street in pouring rain back the two blocks to our dorm. That explained the lights going out in the bar. The rain was so bad that the thought of not being soaked to the bone was laughable. We crossed the street and started down the sidewalk on 23rd St screaming and laughing. Ah, the joys of being young and inebriated. I tried to get cover under the awnings of the pharmacy, never mind that they were rolled up.

After passing the pharmacy, with Jim a few feet ahead of me, I met a girl running towards me. I thought it best if she discovered on her own about the awnings. Instead, I stopped and said “what, no goodnight kiss?” She turned, put her arms straight to her sides, leaned forward and to my shock and joy, we kissed.

It was simple and quick of which I could hardly expect more. We had just met of course and so we turned and continued our separate paths in the downpour. I'll always wonder who she was and if she remembers our only kiss and wonders about our hello/goodbye kiss too.

That is a very cool memory...pure chance and unforgettable... at least thank God you weren't too drunk to forget it!

thanks!....  yeah, i think the tequila had worn off by then.  i was too poor to drink a lot.

Tequila has a way of making clothes fall off - so good thing you didn't have entirely too much!  (Or maybe not a good thing?)

    q,  what're you sayin'?  i just don't understand.

I gather you aren't a big fan of country music?   There is actually a song titled "Tequila makes her clothes fall off"    And I can attest to the fact that tequila does have that effect - along with making the room spin and your brain ache..........Funny thing ----- it's always the last one that does it to you...never the first one, two, three.......

ha! no, i'm not a fan of country music and all my friends will attest to that and that was prob the last time i drank tequila but with this newfound info,  i may keep a bottle of jose around just in case.....

What a nice memory! Its funny looking back on the days past wondering "what if.."

Thats cute.  It's what I would refer to as a perfect romance.  Short lived maybe, and yes, one does wonder what happened next, but it was perfect, no broken hearts, just pure romance, kissing in the rain.  A nice memory 24-7.  I'm half jealous.

diane, i haven 't dwelled on "what if" but it was my first year there and i wonder how many times our paths crossed or if they did at all.  it wasn't a huge campus or town but it wasn't tiny either.  and we both had glasses on so that distorted our sight.  it would be interesting to meet her but i'm gonna go out on a limb and say our moment was best as it was.   thanks for dropping by, i appreciate it.

thanks, G.I.T. i had never thought of it being a perfect romance.  what a great way to look at it.  if she even remembers it, i wonder if she does too?

  • GossipInATutu said 2 months ago

im sure it stuck with her too, if she was sober enough to remember it.  Do you remember what she looked like?

i'm pretty sure she wasn't drunk but i could be wrong.  she was short, thin, and shoulder length blonde hair and the glasses.  oh, she was all wet too.    that's all i recall.

thanks cjone2000.  i didn't think so at the time.  i was just a kid.

Very cool!  I'm sure she remembers.. she would be a fool if she didn't.  That is stuff that movies are made of!

  • 24-7 said 2 months ago

yeah?  letssee, who would play me?  i already know the actress....

  • frogfenatic said 2 months ago

Who is the actress?  Why don't you play yourself Mr... What a better person to show how it all happened.

  • 24-7 said 2 months ago

sandra bullock..... and i'd gladly play the kissing part and the happy ever after ending.

I think she's taken!  I'm sure if she met you she would be eating out of the palm of your hand.
